Wedding Planning Tips from the Pros

Get the inside scoop on helpful wedding planning tips from the pros! Timeless Events dish the secrets on how to plan the perfect day, with useful wedding planning tips every bride should know.

1) Stick to your budget

When you first get engaged you buy every magazine and bookmark every blog to help plan your big day. Trying to narrow down who and what is the best fit for style and, of course, BUDGET can be very overwhelming and stressful!! After the excitement of being engaged has sunk in a bit, sit down with both families and ask who would be willing to contribute to your special day.

Once you have established a grand total, contact Timeless Events, we will scrutinize your budget, spend time understanding your vision and do everything we possibly can to ensure you have the wedding of your dreams! A wedding coordinator is that one person who can bring your wedding vision to life and save you time, money and stress!

At Timeless Events we will guide you with everything from design creation, budget management, stationery/invitations, vendor suggestions and bookings to contract negotiation and the all important coordination on the day of your wedding. Timeless Events can assure our couples that they are not only hiring reliable vendors, but also that they are getting the most for their budget. We use our extensive industry contact list to source and negotiate discounts with suppliers, so you don’t have to stress about where your money is going!

We manage costs without compromising on style!!

2) Listen to Mother Nature (plan around the weather)

The date of your wedding is very important. Not only will it be a significant day every year for the rest of your marriage but the date will determine whether you have a beautiful outdoor wedding or an intimate indoor celebration.

Which ever you prefer, think carefully about the what mother nature might get up to on your special day! Outdoor weddings usually work out well at the start of winter, although a little chilly there is less chance of the heavens opening up and washing away your perfect day. Indoor weddings are perfect all year round especially if you have chosen a venue with beautiful décor and ambiance as no matter the weather your photos will be spectacular!

3) Select your vendors carefully!

Planning a wedding for the first time can be very daunting as the couple usually do not know who the right person for each job is, and often make the wrong choice costing them unnecessary money. Don’t risk using a dodgy vendor, instead rely on your wedding coordinator to use their contact list of reliable, cost effective vendors.

Make sure that you’ve checked up on all of your vendors before selecting them - do a google search for them, visit their facebook page and see if there are any bad reviews, and ask them if they have any customer testimonials!

Timeless events deal with wedding vendors on a daily basis so we have special working relationships with each of our preferred suppliers.

4) Don’t be scared to ask for a better price (if you don’t ask for a better rate, you won’t get one.)

Asking for a discount is very important when planning a wedding as every penny counts.

Just bare in mind when using a Photographer/ DJ etc once off they may be reluctant to offer a discount. As wedding coordinators we use them on an ongoing basis so they are a lot more willing to negotiate a discount with us

5) Release Rooms

As soon as you have picked a date, start to look for hotels in a wide variety of price points. Many hotels allow you to reserve rooms for guests under a special wedding block and a reduced rate. You can then release any unbooked rooms a month prior to your wedding. If the hotels you contact insist upon contracts with cancellation penalties, just say no— you don’t want to be responsible for rooms you can’t fill.

Timeless events have an ongoing relationship with many hotels and B&B’s in various area’s. Thus, allowing us to book rooms without cancellation penalties. They have worked with us before and know we will cancel any unneeded rooms well in advance.
